sewer scope inspection

SEWER SCOPE INSPECTION

One of the most often-overlooked inspections when purchasing a new home is a sewer scope inspection. Despite the fact that a damaged sewer line can cost thousands of dollars to repair, many people do not have a sewer scope inspection, since it is not typically included in the cost of a standard home inspection. However, a sewer scope inspection can save you quite a bit of money, and give you valuable peace of mind.

WHAT IS A SEWER SCOPE INSPECTION?

A sewer scope inspection is a type of inspection that examines the condition of the main lateral sewer line that runs from a property to the public sewer main or septic system. The inspector will insert a specialized camera attached to a flexible cable into the sewer line to inspect for any damage, blockages, or other issues that may be present.

Using this specialized camera, the inspector will perform a comprehensive inspection of the sewer line, and look for damage or defect, and any other potential concerns within the pipe. Then, your inspector will tell you what they have found, and provide you with a comprehensive, written report including photos and video regrading the sewer line’s condition.

Why Should You Have A Sewer Scope Inspection Performed?

A sewer scope inspection can reveal potential issues with the sewer line that may not be visible during a traditional home inspection. Some of the problems that a sewer scope inspection can uncover include:
  • Tree root intrusion
  • Cracked or broken pipes
  • Blockages or clogs
  • Corrosion or deterioration of pipes
  • Misaligned pipes
  • Bellied pipes
  • Poorly installed or damaged cleanouts

Identifying these issues early can prevent costly repairs or replacements down the line, and can give you peace of mind knowing that your home's plumbing system is functioning properly.

What's Included in a Sewer Scope Inspection?

Our sewer scope inspection includes a thorough examination of the sewer line using a high-resolution camera that is inserted into the line through a cleanout or other access point. We will carefully examine the entire length of the sewer line, from the house to the street, and document any issues that we find.

After the inspection is complete, we will provide you with a detailed report that includes photos and videos of the sewer line, as well as our findings and recommendations for any necessary repairs or maintenance.

If you're in the process of buying a home or just want to ensure that your home's plumbing system is in good working order, schedule a sewer scope inspection with us today. Our experienced inspector will provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions about your home's plumbing system.
